Vienna Art Week begins on November, 15 in Vienna

Vienna Art Week begins on November, 15 in Vienna. This event is celebrated annually in the capital of Austria for the last six years.

Vienna Art Week is a local event, 36 various art institutions (museums and art galleries among them) will take part in it. Such a scrupulous selection of the participants ensures comparatively high level of the collections and projects being represented. But the festival didn’t limit itself in the genres and trends: the painting, sculpture, performance, video, music, cinema, design and architecture. The Art Week doesn’t claim for the representing the full picture of the contemporary art, but all the participants and events of the week are united by the single concept. This year the organizers concentrated on the theme "Crossing Limits". In the contemporary world each of us has to accommodate to the fast changing world. The world turns into the "global village". The Vienna Art Week explores the role of the culture in such a world. The organizers of the festival consider that the art not only sensitively reacts on the existing situation but can suggest original variants of the “survival” in the contemporary world.
Vienna Art Week has more educative then exhibition character. A variety of interesting lectures, meetings with the painters and presentations of separate projects will take place within the framework of the festival. In particular the 18th Architectural Congress will take place here. However, such a focus didn’t prevent the festival to run purely market activities. Among the rest on November, 16 the project ARTmART will be inaugurated. It will combine an exhibition, symposium and an experimental platform for art sales –any of the objects exhibited there can be sold for 80 € during these five days.
